Cheerio’s Spoonful Of Stories Giveaway
You may have seen Cheerio boxes with books in them a few months ago. My daughters loved the Monkey and Me book so much that once that I had to buy another Cherrio box so they could each have a Monkey And Me book of their own. That is really what Cheerio’s goal is – to help children love books.
I was given several Spoonful Of Stories to review: Monkey and Me, When Dinosaurs Came With Everything, The Great Dog Wash and Duck for President. My three year old takes them everywhere with her in her little purse and she has them pretty much memerized!
The Great Dog Wash won a grand prize of $5,000 and Shellie Braeuner, the author will be having her book published by Simon & Schuster! If you are an aspiring Children’s author register for the contest and submit your unillustrated less than 500 words story by July 15, 2009.

It is important for children to be read to everyday for many reasons, including: to develop a love for reading and learning which will prepare them for later academics, an increased ability to comprehend and understand the world around them, and is also a great bonding time with their parents while they are being read to.
p.s. I love childrens books!

I think it is important to read daily and/or to hear someone read to you. I want my son and daughter to grow up learning new words every day and the best day would be by reading books/magazines/newspapers daily.

I think it is important for children to read everyday in order to increase their vocabulary, continually stimulate their imagination (as opposed to having media dictate the images they see!) and continue to learn from the material they read. Thanks for the chance to win!

I feel it is important to read to children everyday because it creates a love for reading in them that will hopefully stay with them as they grow up. Reading expands their creativity and vocabulary, for me it is also a special bonding time with my kids.

It’s important to model reading and it’s a great bonding time with your kids. It’s also the best way for them to learn to read is to read with an adult every day.

It’s important that children read or are read to everyday because of the many benefits! It helps them learn to talk, increases their vocabulary, gets them prepared to read or makes them a better reader, is calming and independent, and makes kids into intelligent people!

Readinig helps children learn more words than they would ever learn through hearing conversations alone. It also teaches them values and other important characteristics. I believe reading is one of the most important things you can do with your children.
